The overwhelming success of this year’s Gulder Ultimate Search spread to the winners’ party that was graced by hundreds of Nigerians while thousands more followed it online. The warm atmosphere was appropriate for the presence of cold Gulder which has now become a favourite since it was relaunched as a craft beer.

Odudu Otu, the winner of this season’s Gulder Ultimate Search, was crowned after finding Akolo’s chest on the final day after battling 17 other contestants who made it into the jungle with him.

Odudu was presented with N50 million worth of prizes, including the key to an SUV courtesy of Innoson motors and a return ticket to Dubai. The youngest of the finalists expressed delight in being the ultimate craftsman. He thanked Nigerian breweries for the opportunity given to him and other contestants.

He said: “First, I would like to thank Nigerian Breweries, organisers of Gulder Ultimate Search, for bringing back the show. I had fond memories of it growing up and was sad when it went off the air. I could not contain my delight when it returned for Season 12 in 2021.

“I did not hesitate to put in my application, and despite getting into the jungle as a wildcard, I was determined to make the best use of the opportunity. This rare opportunity has changed my life for good, and I am truly grateful to Nigerian breweries, their sponsors and partners, as well as my fellow contestants.”

Emmanuel Oriakhi, who is the Marketing Director of Nigerian Breweries, attributed the success of this season’s Gulder Ultimate Search to the organisers, sponsors and partners, crew members, the contestants and all Nigerians.

Earlier, GUS host, Bob Manuel Udokwu, welcomed Damola, Odudu and Damilola after they alighted from a canoe that brought them to the location of their final quest.

They were eventually joined by Tosin as they embarked on their final quest. Finding artifacts The contestants crossed over to the other side of the first on a single rope with clues and artifacts that were found from the day before.

Tosin lagged behind others as he struggled on the suspended rope bridge with his shield. The other three continued to forge ahead in the forest.

The host, Bob Manuel revealed that the contestants were on their way to the final passage which was the last lap of their journey, a place they might not all pass.

Damola got to the final gate of passage first with a shield, danegun, spear and a hour glass which he presented to Bob.

The hourglass opened the gate for Damola. Odudu came in second, and just like Damola he showed his items and the hourglass opened the final passage for him as well. Damilola came in third with his 4 items and just like the other two, went in with his hourglass which opened the gate for him. Tosin came in last to the gate as expected, but he was unable to find the one last item; the hourglass which was the only item that would have granted him final access. He got evicted on the spot.

Bob Manuel also crossed to the other side and spoke to the excited contestants who looked and felt happy to have made it that far.

The host congratulated them and welcomed them to the very final phase of their journey. He also made them drop the artifacts and ornaments they gathered on their journey and gave them a final instruction from a scroll.

Damola, Odudu and Damilola took off after the instruction on the final leg of their journey to becoming the ultimate craftsman.

Minutes later, the search kicked off. Each man fought for himself as they struggled to find clues that will lead to the treasure chest that they seek. Damola dipped his hands into the murky swamp water for clues, while the other two searched on dry land.

Odudu found a rope in the ground which the other two helped to pull out as Toke Makinwa who had been waiting on the spot, commended him. Odudu and his team mates tugged on the rope till it revealed the treasure chest of Akudo which held secrets.

A victorious Odudu dragged his find admist shouts of victory as his mates congratulated him. On opening the chest, Odudu found a mirror and a scroll whose content he read out loud. The scroll congratulated Odudu and the mirror showed a reflection of the winner he had become.

The task of the day – combination lock was an intense variety of tasks that combined to unlock a case. They had to crawl through obstacles, balance puzzles pieces, match those pieces to get a code that lets them unlock a rod to strike their gong.

Damola’s speed made him finish the first obstacle and rapidly moved along the course. Odudu dropped his tile the first time and had to start again. Damola, Odudu and Damilola began solving their puzzle board while Chidimma was seen still transporting her tiles. Damola finished his task first as he rings his gong.

Damilola and Odudu were tied at the final stage, trying to find the right combination to unlock their rod. Damilola finished second, and then Odudu came in third place.

Chidimma couldn’t complete her task, which meant we had to say goodbye to her. A bittersweet moment as she is the last woman standing of Gulder Ultimate Search Season 12.

She stands a chance of being voted back into the show. The three finalists are Damola, Odudu and Damilola. Who will be the ultimate craftsman?.

The evicted contestants, four of them – Esitima, Chidimma, Tosin and Osasere posses boomerangs. This means that the viewers get to vote who joins the top three on the final quest for Akolo’s treasure. Voting was opened yesterday and will close on Tuesday, December 14, at 11:59 pm.

With the number of contenders reduced to 10 from the initial 18 that entered the jungle, it became a game of each man and woman for themselves.

The mood at the task ground for the day was a bit down that even the host, Toke Makinwa, noticed and commented about it. It soon became clear that it was due to the anxiety of the first individual task they were about to engage in.

The task for the day was Memory Jog where contestants were first shown six different images to memorise. After being asked to identify the fourth image, those who got it were asked to move to the next level where they were asked to dismantle a wall with tennis balls and rebuild it to reveal the image of new the Gulder helmet.

Damola was the first to rearrange the dismantled wall and other contenders soon followed. In the end, Chidinma and Osas were left as they tried unsuccessfully to accurately arrange the blocks.

For more than six hours, they kept at it and at a point, Kunel Remi, the taskmaster, asked the rest to return to Amorokin camp. He then gave the two remaining contenders a five-minute ultimatum to figure it out. Chidinma managed to come up with a semblance of the design while Osas was unable to create anything from the blocks.

Surprisingly, Actor and Host of previous editions of the show, Bob Manuel, made a guest appearance at the place of talking drum’s Bonfire night.

The Contestants were star-struck as the actor gave them survival and winning tips to emerge victorious in their quest for the ultimate prize.

Back to their first individual task, the fate of the last two contenders was not sealed at the Place of the Talking Drum, there was a twist as Toke waited outside Amorokin camp to receive the contestants when they returned from the bonfire night.

There, Osas was asked to step aside and due to his inability to rearrange the blocks, was evicted. Chidinma on the other hand was given respite for her effort in solving the puzzle halfway.

Osas admitted that solving puzzles was one of his weaknesses and he had hoped it would not lead to his eviction from the jungle.

The duo were sent packing from the survival reality show on Saturday night after a tensed individual challenge at the place of the talking drum following Irin and iroko clan abysmal performance during the day’s task.

This comes after Orevaoghene Oboh and Iniabasi Eme Umoren became the sixth and fifth contestants to be evicted respectively — about the same time Emmanuel Ifeanyi Nnebe was ousted.

The trio of Olayinka Omoya, Mfon Mikel, and Gerald Odeka were earlier also sent packing from the survival show on November 1.

With the latest eviction, there are 10 contestants left in the race for the show’s N50 million grand prize.

After weeks of dueling as clans, the contestants of the ongoing Gulder Ultimate Search will begin to compete as individuals from today. The anchor Toke Makinwa informed them in the 11th episode.

However, there is a twist. According to Toke Makinwa, a new element, boomerang, is introduced. The council of elders have hidden boomerangs all around the jungle. These boomerangs signify a second chance for the contestants, and anyone who finds them must report it at the place of the talking drum.

It also allows them to be voted back into the show if they are evicted. Osasere of the Amo Clan is the first to find the boomerang, followed by Estima and Damola of Irin and Amo clan respectively.

Responding to the tweet on Monday, Frank told the critic that her analysis was wrong as most TV hosts are versatile and are not restricted to one area of specialisation.

He also added that he hosted Miss Africa University Beauty Peagent twice in a row.

Yesterday’s task was interesting because it was the first task that the clans competed directly against each other. Each clan had several boxes lined up in a row with tiles on top of the box. Each clan needed to attack the other clans’ tiles, and the clan with the most tiles broken at the end of the task will be the losing clan. It seemed to be a game that required strength, accuracy and a little bit of cunning.

In honour of his clan switch from Iroko to Amo, Damola was given the riddle that revealed what they needed to break the tiles – metal balls. Each clan selected a member to search the jungle area for balls that were hidden.

When each clan retrieved their balls, the throwing began. Tosin and Ishamel launched the game with direct throws against opposing clans, and that set it off. We can’t count how many misses every clan had, but it was a lot.

It was soon apparent that there was a shift in how the Iroko and Amo clan were tossing their balls. Irin seemed to be the focus.

With two clans aiming for their tiles, Irin’s loss was swift and sure. Tobechukwu of Iroko dealt the final blow as he knocked off the last of Irin’s clan tiles.

As the search was for a losing team, Iroko and Amo had an unspoken agreement to remove Irin from the game. Unfortunately for Clan Irin, they couldn’t break enough of any other clan’s tile to save themselves, and they lost the task.

At the place of the talking drum, it was time for Clan Irin to be tested. The anchor Toke Makinwa asked them to play a game of Fireside Questions.

Chidimma, Omokhafe, Damilola all answered questions correctly. Oreva missed his question, and Tosin fielded it. At the end of it all, Oreva could not meet up to challenge, and he was evicted.

Odeka said he is disappointed to have left the show at the early stage because he dreamt of winning.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, the 35-year-old athlete said, “Getting evicted from the competition so early was painful, because I pictured the money and I anticipated winning. I hoped to be among the last five contestants on the show.”

Recalled that Odeka was evicted on the same night a fellow contestant, Micheal Mfon, who had threatened a female contestant, Esitima Edem, was kicked out of the jungle during last Sunday’s episode of the reality show.

Speaking about his plans after exiting the show, Odeka said, “I want to promote my sport club and groom young Nigerian athletes. My wife and I also want to start a sports bar for lovers of sports. But, I would have to do this one at a time due to my limited financial capability. I want to give back to society by impacting people’s lives. I aimed to promote my sport club and start a sports bar with the grand prize if I had won it. However, at the moment, I need to take things gradually.”

A member of the clan, Tosin, complained that his opinions were ignored and he felt alienated. Emmanuel Nnebe tried to justify making Jennifer the engineer as the team lead, but it all seemed like an excuse.

Toke pointed out that Clan Amo had a teamwork problem, which led to their failure.

Amo Clan was grilled with Fireside Questions as one team member would be evicted by the end of the night. The anchor, Toke, asked them a series of questions. Anyone unable to answer their question correctly would be evicted.

At the end of the game, Emmanuel Nnebe could not answer a question correctly, and he was evicted from the show. Clan Amo has been reduced to four members as they lose another member.

I had quite a memorable experience, eating food without salt and sleeping on a mat in a jungle.”

Speaking about what led to his eviction, the singer said, “It all started when my clan lost the task. I was evicted because I was unable to finish the task given to my clan by the anchor, and I felt so bad. There is always a reason for one’s inability to accomplish a task, so I was evicted because I was not careful enough. It is painful because a little mistake led to my eviction. My lost shoe also affected me badly. It was a strategy to slow me down and it eventually did.

“As an artiste and entertainer who creates comedy content, I have a passion for music, and Gulder Ultimate Search has given me a platform that would have cost me millions of Naira. It will really help my music career. I will also like to work with some Instagram content creators such as Sydney Talker, Ogbeni Adan, Crazy Clown, Mr Sabinus, MC Lively, Mr Macaroni and Taaooma.
