Manchester United Triggers Options To Extend Contracts Of Four Players

Manchester United has exercised contract extensions for Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, and Fred until the end of the 2023-2024 season.

According to reports in England, this decision has not affected David de Gea’s contract at Manchester United, as the club and the Spanish goalkeeper are currently in productive negotiations on a potential new contract.

Manchester United are looking for forwards in the aftermath of Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. As the January transfer window approaches, but there’s a good chance they won’t make any purchases this winter.

The Red Devils, on the other hand, have shown interest in a few attacking players, including PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo, who was a target last summer.

Before the Netherlands were eliminated on penalties by Argentina in the World Cup quarterfinals, Gakpo made an impression on the Dutch team by scoring three goals in Qatar.

Manchester United reportedly has reservations about possible January targets due to inflated player estimates, particularly after the recently concluded 2022 FIFA World Cup.

PSV director of football Marcel Brands said that any agreement for Gakpo, 23, “must be a record move”.

As a result, Rashford’s continued presence, at least in the short term, will be critical to United’s attempt to finish in the Premier League’s top four.

The Englishman, linked with PSG, is United’s league leader in goals this season, with eight in all competitions. He also scored three goals to help his country reach the World Cup quarterfinals in Qatar.

Erik ten Hag appears to have gotten the best out of the attacker after struggling the previous season, possibly giving the Englishman a reason to stay at the club.

Rashford and the rest of United’s Premier League campaign will resume on December 27 when they host Nottingham Forest.

However, they face Burnley in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Wednesday. The game is scheduled to begin at 20:00.
