  • Abdullahi Ganduje advised Edo State’s incoming governor to prioritize good governance over investigating past administrations, emphasizing a forward-looking approach
  • Ganduje expressed confidence in Senator Okpebholo’s potential as an “action governor,” encouraging him to focus on the APC’s manifesto and stakeholder engagement

Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has advised Senator Monday Okpebholo, the incoming governor of Edo State, against investigating Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration.

Ganduje shared this perspective during Okpebholo’s courtesy visit to the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Thursday.

Ganduje urged Okpebholo to focus on delivering good governance rather than dwelling on past administrations. “Don’t waste time fighting the previous administration.

A progressive government looks forward, not back,” Ganduje advised. He encouraged Okpebholo to prioritize the party’s manifesto, support socio-economic development, and establish strong stakeholder ties.

During the meeting, Ganduje highlighted Okpebholo’s dynamic campaign and expressed confidence in his potential as an “action governor.” He assured him of the party’s support, provided all APC offices from ward to state levels are fully functional.

Ganduje also mentioned APC’s recently established progressive institute, designed to train local government personnel and align government policies with public needs. “This institute will support good governance year-round, not only during election periods,” he added.

Okpebholo acknowledged Ganduje’s significant role in securing the election victory, recalling Ganduje’s presence in Edo days before the election, which boosted the party’s morale.

He also thanked President Bola Tinubu for maintaining peace during the election, which ended without violence.

Looking ahead, Okpebholo described his win as a “new dawn” for Edo State, thanking the APC’s NWC for their efforts and expressing optimism for Edo’s future.

The Obaseki administration is scheduled to hand over leadership to Okpebholo on November 12.
